UI/UXWritingSketching

Project Overview

Our first assignment for Experience Design (UI/UX design and research) in DEVINE is to capture at least 30 problems experienced by others in daily life, in a month’s time. These are recorded in a notebook. We were also instructed to implement some visual aspects into it.

Project

Design Process

The project required nothing more than observational skills, some empathy, and a dash of creativity. I made it a point to include at least one hand-drawn illustration with each problem, which added a depth to the assignment I was not expecting. Being one of the very first assignments in the DEVINE course, and that fact that I have basically no background in art apart from some mandatory classes in school, made the design aspect a lot more challenging than expected.

Additionally, as my first assignment on Behance, it was of course an introduction to working with the platform!

Technical Details

  • Tools Used: Miro, Behance, traditional pencil, pen & paper
  • Format: An A5 notebook, Behance page, Miro board.

Outcome

It was my first foray into using digital tools I was previously unaware of. Although outwardly not the most technically challenging of projects, I am very fond of it for (re-)introducing me to more creative pursuits, and giving me yet another opportunity to be more keen of daily human experiences that would otherwise fade into the background hum of my mind. The end product is less tangible than expected; the notebook and page are but a mere representation of the real achievement I gained mentally.
